Are you wearing your armor...Ephesians 6:11-18

Updated: Mar 23, 2021

Let's talk about the armor of God and why it is important. I will do a post per each piece of the armor.

Let's first acquaint ourselves with the armor and what God says about the totality of the armor.

vs 11-Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

vs 12-For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Here we see that God knew we would come under attack living in this world as children of God. He knew that His enemy was god over this world and as an enemy of God became our enemy and would try to steal, kill, and destroy us. 2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

One thing in all this we need to remember that we sometimes become shortsighted in is that we shouldn't fight with each other sinner or brothers and sister in Christ. God makes it very plain that we wrestle (the dictionary online say hard struggle, struggle with a difficulty or problem, take part in a fight...trying to force them to the ground) not against flesh and blood (human beings), but against that which does not have a soul, that which needs to enter into a human being in order to operate in an effective way.

This is the beginning of putting on the whole armour. First, we had to know why we even need armour and who gave us this decree and commandment. This was not to be meant as a suggestion, but a commandment that would save our lives, protect us, and having us fully armed when we go into battle.

Our next post will begin to breakdown and bring hopefully some clarity of each piece of armour and bring it in a way that will relate to our everyday lives. I am hoping it will also, help you see it in a spiritual light.

May the grace of God keep and protect you.
